The objective of the Government Liaison is to maintain contact with the Federal Government on a continuing basis; to observe and to inform IDC of any issues that may affect the interior design consulting profession and interior design industry and to assist the board of directors with its lobbying efforts.

At the provincial government level, interior design associations have made great strides in furthering the interests and rights of their members.

A Memorandum of Understanding between Public Works and Government Services Canada and IDC was signed in July of 1997. Note: addition In 2002 the MOU with PWGSC expired. It was revised and renewed in December 2003.

This document serves as a vehicle to promote IDC representation and strategic focus for Canadian interior design services, nationally and internationally, and to maintain the status of the consulting interior design profession and industry as a leading Canadian professional services sector with the Federal Government.
