In January 1990 the National Board moved to initiate The Interior
Designers of Canada Foundation, a charitable corporation, appointing
six people to form the original Board of Directors.

The Foundation
has established the following objectives:
- To provide scholarships, bursaries, and fellowships to interior
design students and practitioners in furtherance of their training,
development and continuing education.
- To endow or establish professorships
and other positions for the teaching of interior design at educational
institutions.
- To grant and confer awards, citations, medals and
other prizes in recognition of education or other meritorious
works in the
field
of interior design.
- To provide for the preparation and dissemination
to the public of educational and scientific information on the
discipline
of interior
design and in the related arts and sciences by such means
as publications, exhibits, conferences, lectures and seminars.
- To
provide grants in aid of research or to undertake research in
the field of interior design and in associated disciplines.
The
IDCF Endowment Fund, created to promote research in Interior
Design, will provide funding to practicing interior
designers
interested in pursuing original research in a variety
of topics. Contributions
to the Endowment Fund of $25.00 or more will be acknowledged
and a tax receipt issued.
